James P. Ryan, MAI, CRE, Managing Partner
Mr. Ryan is the Managing Partner of Griffin Advisors and sits on the Investment Committee. Prior to forming Griffin Advisors, he was the Chief Executive Officer of VEF Advisors, a partnership with Apollo Real Estate Advisors, which purchased management of the VEF Series from Lend Lease Real Estate Investments in 2004. Previously, Mr. Ryan was the Senior Portfolio Manager for the VEF Series at Lend Lease Real Estate Investments where he was responsible for overall client relations and fund strategy. Mr. Ryan was the founding member and managed the VEF Series for over thirteen (13) years, since its inception in 1993. He was a member of the Management and Executive committees of Lend Lease Real Estate Investments. Mr. Ryan began his career as a Valuation Specialist with the District of Columbia, and then was employed by Gladstone Associates, a Washington, D.C. economic consulting and valuation firm, where he attained the position of Director of Valuation Services. He was then employed by Equitable Real Estate Investment Management as a Senior Vice President responsible for all valuation work for non-proprietary clients. Mr. Ryan was then appointed to head the Value Enhancement Fund initiative. Mr. Ryan was the 2001 President of the National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries, and has served on the Council’s Board of Directors from 1996-2002, in addition to serving as Chairman of the Valuation Committee. He is also a former Adjunct Professor at American University. Mr. Ryan is a Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI) and a Counselor of Real Estate (CRE). Mr. Ryan is a licensed real estate broker in the states of Georgia and Maryland. He earned a BS at Wheeling College, and a MBA at Emory University.
Dawn Gilmore Parker, CPA, Director of Financial Services
Ms. Gilmore Parker serves as the Director of Financial Services of Griffin Advisors and is responsible for all accounting and finance functions. Prior to joining Griffin Advisors, Ms. Gilmore Parker was Vice President of Finance at Sivica Investments where she was responsible for accounting and strategic planning and analysis. Previously, Ms. Gilmore was the Director of Operations at Wells Real Estate funds where she played an integral role in the rapid growth of the organization through the development and implementation of critical infrastructure throughout the organization. In addition, Ms. Gilmore served in key accounting and finance roles for MetLife and Equitable Real Estate. She began her career with KPMG Peat Marwick and graduated cum laude from University of West Georgia with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in both Accounting and Finance. Ms. Gilmore obtained her CPA license in 1992.
Christoph A. Kahl, Jamestown Principal and Founder and CEO and Griffin Investment Committee Member
Mr. Kahl serves on the Investment Committee of Griffin Advisors. He received the Diplom-Kaufmann from the University of Cologne, Germany. He has specialized in United States real estate investment since 1978. Mr. Kahl founded Jamestown in 1983.
Jeffrey C. Ackemann, Jamestown Managing Director and Griffin Investment Committee Member
Mr. Ackemann is actively involved in maximizing the acquisition/underwriting process for Griffin. He graduated from Lehigh University with a Bachelor of Science in Business and Economics with a concentration in Finance. Prior to joining Jamestown, he was a Director with L.J. Melody & Company, a subsidiary of CB Richard Ellis. Mr. Ackemann was the Manager of Melody’s Atlanta office where he was responsible for all loan origination and servicing. In addition to Mr. Ackemann’s management responsibilities, he was consistently one of Melody’s top producers, specializing in structured finance transactions. In 2002, he joined Jamestown as a Managing Director and President of Property Management.
Matt M. Bronfman, Jamestown Managing Director and Griffin Investment Committee Member
Mr. Bronfman graduated from Tufts University, Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude. He attended law school at Northwestern University in Chicago, graduating magna cum laude. Mr. Bronfman began his law practice at what is now Holland & Knight, in Atlanta, specializing in real estate development and acquisitions. He joined Jamestown in 1998 as general counsel, working with the acquisitions and management departments. In 2002, he was named a Managing Director of Jamestown. In 2007, he joined the Investment Committee Griffin Realty Advisors.
D. Lee Wright, Jr., Jamestown Managing Director and Griffin Financial Advisor
Mr. Wright joined Jamestown in 2002 as a Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer. He has 20 years experience in public accounting with a focus on real estate, construction and closely-held/family-owned commercial businesses. Mr. Wright received a Bachelor in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from the University of West Georgia in 1984. He became an advisor to Griffin Realty in 2007.
Clay Adams, Jamestown Director, Chief Investment Officer, Advisor
Mr. Adams serves Griffin Advisors as an acquisitions advisor. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Davidson College in North Carolina and a Master of Business Administration at Emory University in Atlanta. He is affiliated with the National Association of Real Estate Investment Managers and the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate. He previously served as Director of Acquisitions at WestWind Capital Partners, where he was responsible for the United States and Canada. Mr. Adams has more than a decade of experience in structuring real estate acquisitions, dispositions and financing. He held various senior management rolls at Wells Real Estate Funds, including Senior Vice President and Regional Acquisitions Director covering the Midwest and Pacific Northwest, and he served as the Head of Asset Management at Goddard Investment Group.
Gretchen E. Nagy, Jamestown General Counsel
Ms. Nagy serves Griffin Advisors as a legal advisor. In 1982, she became outside legal counsel for Jamestown while practicing law with the firm now known as Holland & Knight. In 2007, she joined Jamestown as General Counsel. She practices in the areas of corporate and tax law, including the formation of business entities, tax planning, and transactional work. She has significant experience in drafting and negotiating partnership agreements and operating agreements for limited liability companies. Ms. Nagy earned her B.A., cum laude, in 1979 from Ohio Wesleyan University and her J.D. in 1982 from Duke University. She attended the University of Munich, Germany, in 1985-86, where she was a Fulbright Scholar.
Douglas S. Gray, Jamestown Director, Asset Management
Mr. Gray serves Griffin Advisors as an asset manager. He served as an Executive Vice President at Post Properties, Inc., for six years overseeing portfolio management and dispositions. Mr. Gray started his career with Andersen Consulting, earning his CPA in 1984. After leaving Andersen in 1987, he served as the Director of Property Services for The Landmarks Group, an Atlanta-based office developer and manager. He later joined Dutch Institutional Holding Company, where he was the Investment Manager for an office/retail portfolio in Boston. Mr. Gray is a licensed real estate broker and holds the CCIM designation. Doug was named a Director of Jamestown in 2006. Mr. Gray graduated from Clemson University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Financial Management.
J. Ben Gainey, Jamestown Director, Asset Management
Mr. Gainey serves Griffin Advisors as an asset manager. Prior to joining Jamestown, he worked for The Prudential Insurance Company of America for 15 years, where he served as Vice-President of Asset Management. In 2002, he was named a Director of Jamestown. Mr. Gainey received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Accounting from the University of West Florida in 1977 and a Masters of Business Administration in Real Estate from Georgia State University in 1985.
Mike Herman, Acquisitions
Mr. Herman received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Rice University in 1996 and a Master of Business Administration from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School in 2002. He is affiliated with the Urban Land Institute and the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties. After a brief career as a structural engineer, Mr. Herman entered the real estate field in 2002 with M.D. Hodges, an office and industrial developer. Immediately prior to Jamestown, he was a Director of Acquisitions at Extended Stay Hotels, an affiliate of The Blackstone Group. He joined Jamestown as Vice President of Acquisitions in 2008.
Teresa S. DeLoatch, Accounting
Mrs. DeLoatch received an Associates of Science degree in Accounting from Manchester Community Technical College in 1993. She joined Hines Interests, L.P. in 1997, where she served as a Property/Project Accountant for over ten years. Prior to joining Jamestown in 2008, Mrs. DeLoatch was a Controller for The Griffin Company. She brings over 11 years of Real Estate Accounting experience in development, construction and property management. She spends her time between Griffin Realty Advisors and Jamestown.
Shak Presswala, CSA, Acquisitions
Mr. Presswala received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Vanderbilt University in 2000. He is affiliated with the Atlanta Society of Financial Analysts, the Urban Land Institute, and the National Association of Office & Industrial Properties. After beginning his career as a corporate investment-banking analyst at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, he joined Wells Real Estate Funds in 2002 as a Credit Analyst and helped create the company’s credit underwriting program. After being promoted to Acquisitions Analyst and then Senior Acquisitions Analyst at Wells Real Estate Funds, Mr. Presswala joined WestWind Capital Partners in 2005 as an Acquisitions Associate. In 2006, he earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the CFA Institute. That same year, Mr. Presswala joined Jamestown as Senior Associate in Acquisitions and was named Vice President of Acquisitions in 2008. He balances his time between Griffin and Jamestown acquisitions.
Brandon Kessinger, Griffin Asset Management
Mr. Kessinger received a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce and Business Administration with a Major in Accounting from The University of Alabama in 1998. He is affiliated with the Urban Land Institute. After beginning his real estate career as an accountant and analyst with Branch Properties, he joined Cousins Properties in 2002 and specialized in development and joint ventures. Mr. Kessinger joined Jamestown in 2005, working closely with Asset Management, as Fund Controller on real estate investments valued in total over $4 billion. In 2006, he joined the Asset Management group working on several development and redevelopment projects. Currently he splits time between Jamestown and Griffin.
